The United States booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after a convincing 2-0 victory over Australia in Seattle. The win gives Mauricio Pochettino’s side six points from their opening two matches, putting them in first place in Group D.
The hosts made a bright start and were rewarded in the 11th minute, after Folarin Balogun’s dangerous cross forced Australian defender Cameron Burgess into clearing the ball into his own net.
